Traffic Signals

The Town of Danville has a fully-interconnected traffic signal system consisting of 60 traffic signals of which 54 are maintained by the Town and 6 are maintained by Caltrans.  The Town contracts with Contra Costa County Public Works to provide traffic signal maintenance services.  In addition to traffic signals, technicians maintain the Town's network of illuminated crosswalk systems, flashing beacons and radar speed display signs.

traffic signal timing & coordination

Timing of traffic signals is based on several factors including providing adequate "green" time for through traffic in order to accommodate heavy platoons of vehicles with minimal interruption, as well as other factors such as providing required "yellow" time and pedestrian crossing times in accordance with current regulations as mandated by the latest edition of the California Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD).
